Technical Difficulties – Revisited

Ok, so … maybe technical difficulties are not blessings in disguise, as I mused last week. Maybe they are exactly what they are – a big honking pain in the … neck. I was going to say neck.

Yesterday I learned from a few readers (which is always good) that apparently my book was downloading “faulty.” A reader’s word, not mine. I like the word ‘faulty’ though. It’s very diplomatic, I think. Anyway, because of this faulty download, some readers were able to enjoy Pierced By Danger with no problems whatsoever. Others, it seems, were experiencing technical difficulties in the form of missing text. Parts of the story were just not there! Imagine my horror.

I don’t mind telling you that I spent most of the day yesterday awash in a puddle of tears. I don’t ever remember being so frustrated in my life. From my point of view, writing Pierced (the whole trilogy) came as easily as breathing to me. The story just seemed to flow out of me, as though it just couldn’t be contained anymore. And afterwards, I spent what seems like months editing and proofreading and perfecting, and having others edit and proofread in an effort to perfect before offering it to the world. It was (is) my baby. And offering it to the world is the biggest, toughest, most important thing I’ve ever done. And it’s been battered and roughed up now by technical difficulties.

The file was fixed. I spent over four hours last night tending to it and getting it re-uploaded to the KDP site, and was informed by one of those readers with missing text just a few hours ago that the new download is beautiful now. But I’m afraid that the damage may have already been done. Technical difficulties suck.

  1. No problems reading this great book, the story line is interesting and believe able, I am enjoying the characters, friends and family. I haven’t had any problems downloading. Just need a time frame for the sequel.

    • Rosalind, I’m so happy to hear that you had no problems with the download. and that you’re enjoying Joshua and Samantha’s romance! I have to say that I am just as anxious as you and other readers are for the release of the sequel but, I think I have to give book 1 a little more time to find its place in the world first. I’m thinking perhaps a month or so before book 2 will get its debut.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to me here. I love hearing feedback!

  2. Lashell, I’m sorry my use of the word “faulty” made you cry. I was not referring to the storyline of your book but to the download process that obviously didn’t work for some people, including myself. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into fixing the problem so that I now have a very nice complete copy on my Kindle. It’s on my list of books to read again very soon, and I’m greatly anticipating the next book in the series.

    • Kathy, I loved the word ‘faulty.’ It wasn’t the word that made me cry, it was the situation. But I am so grateful to you for posting that review so quickly because it made me aware of the problem with the file. So I thank you, sincerely, from my heart! And thanks for stopping by here to connect with me. You have no idea how much it means to me that you took the time. You are such a sweetheart!

      • I was snooping around trying to find out when the 2nd installment of The Pierced Trilogy might be coming out and happened upon this blog. I felt terrible upon reading your post but am glad that the problem was fixed. Thanks for your gracious reply, that’s very kind of you. I’m looking forward to reading more of Joshua and Samantha! I’m a reader, not a writer, and am totally awed by the people who can sit down and pen a great story. I wouldn’t have a clue as to how to even begin to write a book. Good luck with your writing career!

        • Kathy, thanks for the well-wishes. I appreciate them! And I’m so happy you’re enjoying Joshua and Samantha’s romance! Originally, my plan was to release book 2 at the end of March. But I really wanted to try and give book one a little more time to build an audience first so, I am currently in the process of planning a blog tour for Pierced By Danger. The timeframe for that tour will be around the middle of April. So now I’m looking at an end of April release date for book 2. But I will keep you posted right here as more info on the tour (and book 2) comes in so, keep checking here for news.

    • Again Lashell, no problems my end, maybe being in Australia helped to download, downunder, ha ha Rosalind
